Sand Lake & Nelson Township LibraryLocation: Sand Lake, Michigan
Completed: 2006 Size: 8,500 S.F. The Sand Lake and Nelson Township library was grossly undersized for the area’s needs. Expansion of the existing facility was not an option as it was land locked. Subsequently, the community embarked on a new free-standing library. Multiple focus groups, design committees and programming sessions resulted in a library designed to satisfy the wants and needs of the community. The building’s exterior design was a conscious desire to emulate an agrarian structure consistent with the rural character of the community
